MTA Program for Action 1969<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

A year ago, I did a deep dive into the MTA’s Program for Action<\/a>, the ambitious expansion plans they rolled out after their founding in 1968. Since then, I’ve had a number of people reach out to me asking about this particular map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unfortunate truth is that I don’t really know where this map came from. It’s on the Wikipedia page<\/a> for the Program for Action, and I think it may have come from an early subway fan website, which may or may not still exist. My guess is that it was a brochure put out by the MTA to promote the Program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve recreated the original map, adding the “new” MTA logo at the bottom (as it existed in 1969). The prints are now for sale at vanmaps.com<\/a>; stand alone or framed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
